One Village Coffee
Inspired by the villages we visit, everything we do revolves around our commitment to quality coffee and stewardship.
When we visited Africa and Honduras in the early 2000s, we saw the power of a village - a community of people working together to better themselves and those around them. Coffee, which is deeply tied to the earth and has amazing powers to connect people, quickly became a way for us to create our own village. Thus, One Village Coffee was born. Our mission since 2007 has been to connect growers, roasters (us), and you (the faithful coffee drinker) through our quality coffee and commitment to stewardship.
Our grower partners work hard to ensure a quality crop is harvested in season and sent our way. We work hard by sample roasting & cupping a variety of single origin coffees, choosing only the beans that rise above the rest. From there, we dial in and monitor the roast profile, making sure each blend and single origin hits the flavor marks we're aiming for. Our Licensed Q Grader, Director of Coffee & Production, and Roasters are meticulous and passionate about what coffees make it to the shelf.
When a coffee makes it through our rigorous sourcing process and joins the family of coffees we offer, the work doesn't stop. Each single origin and blend is crafted in small-batches and roasted to order so you get the freshest brew possible. We consistently chart, graph, cup, taste, tweak, roast & cup again to make sure each bean that gets packaged is the best we have to offer… one that is crafted for you to enjoy.
Inspired by the villages we visit, everything we do revolves around our commitment to quality coffee and stewardship. As one of the founding B Corporation certified companies in the country, One Village Coffee has always used the power of business to support social and environmental sustainability.
From the beginning, we have been a Fair Trade and USDA organically certified company. As a Fair Trade certified company, communities of growers are ethically compensated and cared for. We, as the One Village community, take it a step farther with our annual campaign to give $1 from the sale of our Artist Blend coffee to build bee colonies in the COMSA co-op in Honduras. At home, we’ve been able to donate coffee for over 100,000 meals in Philadelphia through a homeless organization. We are also certified organic to make sure that our growing practices support the health of our farmers, the earth, and you. Just as importantly, our 12oz coffee bags are biodegradable and can be composted – going back into the ground from where the coffee came.
Without our community (the growers, us and you), it wouldn't exist. We have a commonality of coffee and a passion to care for ourselves, our families and the world. Welcome home!
